Tina Kotek Releases First Television Ads of the Campaign

Tina Kotek today launched her first television ads of the campaign highlighting her leadership in the Oregon House and her commitment to moving the state forward.

Called” – a 60 second spot and “Look” – a 30 second spot are a part of a growing media campaign already amounting to over $190,000 for Kotek’s first week on air, far surpassing any of Tina’s competitors.

Kotek has established a large coalition of support from over 30 prominent organizations such as Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon, SEIU, Oregon Education Association, Oregon Nurses Association, Oregon League of Conservation Voters and Basic Rights Oregon. The advertising campaign outlines her extensive history of fighting for Oregonians, passing paid sick leave, expanding background checks for gun purchases, raising the minimum wage, and protecting reproductive health care, and previews her approach to delivering results.

“We’ve made a start on a better future for all Oregonians, but it is not nearly enough. From homelessness to climate change, it’s one thing to talk about our problems. It’s another thing to make the tough calls to actually get things done. And that’s why I’m running for Governor.”

Below is the transcript for “Called”:

[Tina]: My name’s Tina Kotek. But I’ve been called a few things over the years.

[Individual Oregonians]: Food bank and children’s advocate. State representative. Budget wiz. Ally. Madam Speaker – first lesbian in the country to get that one. Tina is determined. Tina Kotek? She’s real tough.

[Tina]: And then there were some other words for tough… that women get called… And those were the days that I really knew we were getting things done.

We made record investments in education and affordable housing.

[Individual Oregonians]: Passed paid sick leave. Expanded background checks. Raised the minimum wage. And protected reproductive health care here, no matter what happens at the Supreme Court.

[Tina]: But it is not nearly enough, especially as the pandemic and historic wildfires have changed our lives. It’s one thing to talk about our problems. It’s another thing to make the tough calls to actually get things done. And, that’s why I’m running for Governor.

We all deserve good schools, an affordable place to live, and clean air and water for our children, and their children too. Join us, and we’ll do the tough stuff, together.
