[Portland, OR] – On Sunday afternoon, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek met with small businesses in Portland to learn up close the challenges they’re facing and talk about solutions.
Tina spent time at Verdun Chocolates in Northwest Portland, Mendelssohn’s on North Mississippi and Mother’s Bistro in downtown Portland.
They talked about immediate solutions local businesses need: cleaning up the trash, addressing homelessness and drug addiction, and making sure there is a faster response from local police when they’re needed.
Across the state, small businesses are also facing long-term barriers to their success. Tina talked about her plans to make child care more affordable, expand skills training through our community colleges, and build more housing that’s affordable for middle class families.
“As Governor, I will keep fighting to make sure Oregon works better for small businesses and their workers,” Tina said. “I’m the only candidate who will fight to make health care, housing, and child care more affordable, which will help workers and small businesses thrive.”
